Writing for dollars day for learning

Its been an interesting day for me . Today I have had to remind myself that this is truly a learning experience , and it is a process.

Today I found out why Xomba has come up with a big fat zero for me. When you first sign up for Xomba, you need to add in your google Adsense number manually . I think you can guess what I did , yes.. I left a number off at the end. So I wasn't able to receive any income from what I had posted on Xomba. I fixed it this morning , and checked my Adsense account this afternoon, I had earned .45 already . So , while I did lose a week of income, I was able to fix it , and a BIG thank you goes out to Prism , without her , I would have never thought to check to make sure it was set up correctly.

I also sold my first affiliate sale with Amazon today. I nearly fell off my chair when I saw I had money in my Amazon account. I have been adding links in my articles in the resource area, pointing to sales on Amazon. So first sale! It wasn't for much, but it was neat seeing it there for the first time.

Earnings on eHow for January

Well, I finally have a tally on earnings. According to eHow, they might not be correct , and it could take up till mid week to get everything caught up. But , I will take what I have now. Ready for the grand total?

$28.28

I know this may seem like a small amount, but as you can see it has defiantly grown from the $1.26 for December, and that IS writing for dollars! In theory, this number should continue to double , as the articles start reaching the top of the search engines ,and I write new articles.

When I first started really getting into eHow, I heard seasoned writers talking about giving each article 30-90 days to really get picked up by the search engines, and start to generate traffic. I am just starting to see this happen, with a few of my pieces I wrote 20-30 days ago.

Last week I completely changed the way I wrote and how I chose eHow topics to write about. This should be interesting to see how this impacts my earnings for February. While this new style of writing isn't as fun as what I was doing- it should be more profitable. We shall see!

On Bukisa I only have 4 articles. The funny thing is , they continue to earn a little every day.. which is more than I can say for some of what I have wrote. I will be trying to contribute one thing to Bukisa every day this month, and see how that goes.

Xomba - No earnings at all. But then again my effort there is really sub par. I can't see how anyone earns there, the adsense ad's are so small, they are easily overlooked ... I talked to one person there who said one of the top earner on Xomba earned $800 for just one of the things he submitted. I guess anything is possible!

Passive Investment Income

What exactly is passive income? I have never given that phrase any thought, until I started writing online. Passive income is basically money received on a regular basis that requires little or no upkeep. Even now, it doesn't occur to me, that what I am writing today, could very well still be earning me money 5, 10 years from now. Spend one hour writing, leave it and forget it... and earn money? Passive income at its best.

Being a skeptic ,I still have a hard time believing my own words. To me , it just seems to easy. From my life experiences so far, this tells me if it's easy -it just won't work. So is investing in passive income, by writing really going to work? So far it looks like it will. But I need to see it right in front of me, hearing other people's success stories is nice, but I need to see the proof in my hands. In a nut shell, this is what writing for dollars is all about, seeing if a passive income is something more than just an internet dream.

I'm still waiting for eHow to update. I am anxious to see what my January earnings are. Hopefully I will get a payout to show in my pay pal account later today. eHow pays at the end of each month, and from what I have heard, they don't miss payouts.

January Update

I wanted to be able to give you a full update on eHow , for my first full month there. Unfortunately, eHow is again having issues getting their earnings updated daily. I didn't see an increase yesterday, so it is yet to be determined if things will be caught up today.

On the plus side, an article I wrote made it on eHow's featured "top how to" ! It was a wonderful surprise. It is a little personal victory as well, I don't consider myself to be a "good writer" , I feel as if its a struggle to get things to come out the way I want them to, so to have something featured was a great feeling. Even if it was a simple how to , I'll take it! It will be interesting to see how the exposure pays off.

I am liking Bukisa . I have only 3 articles up, but they have already earned money. Yes, it is just cents, but it is still encouraging to see. Especially since it has only been 2 days. It gives you a little incite to how profitable it could be.

I am continuing to use Xomba to promote my articles. I haven't seen any money from any clicks there yet. I also found out that the majority of people reading Xomba are from India. Not exactly sure how that all fits in here, but its something to keep in mind .

I still have an interest in Squidoo ,I am still trying to figure out how to fit that into my routine.

That is the wrap up for today. If I get an earnings update for eHow, I will be sure to post .

Bukisa

At eHow, there is much buzz going around about this site Bukisa . Bukisa pays per 1000 accumulative page view, instead of ad clicks or affiliate sales. This site is new, I believe it was started in the summer of 2008 . From what I hear, it has been doing well, even in its new state , their revenues are climbing. A good reason to join now, while you can get an early advantage! If your interested in trying Bukisa, head over there now and sign up ! Of course it is free to join.

Because I really like the site, I think I will be putting my article efforts there, instead of Xomba . I will leave xomba to create back links and pull traffic to my eHow and Bukisa articles. That is the plan for now.

On a eHow note - I had the largest earnings day to date. Today I earned $2.09 . I was really surprised to see that big of a jump in one day. I am eager to see if this was a fluke, or it will continue.

Xomba update

For Xomba I have two xombytes (articles) and one xomblurb so far. Slow start , yes. What is surprising is the amount of views the xombytes have gotten. 36 for one , in 20 hrs. For a site that I never see on the search engines, I was pleased with the traffic.Although it didn't result in ad clicks, so it leaves me wondering if they are all social readings. Its to early to tell, but its a better start than I expected.

I have been writing eHow articles, then trying to write a related article for Xomba , and then linking the xombytes to eHow. I'll play around with this system to see what works best.

Page views brings me to Squidoo. Squidoo is another site where you can submit articles, and there they call them "a lens". You get paid when a product sells on your lens. I haven't figured out the trick to this site. My one lens gets about one view a week.Clearly I need some practice here. Squidoo would be a great site to start at, if you also sell on eBay. You can program just your ebay ads to show up in your lens. Its worth checking out.

About Xomba

Now, I have to admit, the initial look of Xomba just isn't appealing to me.It has this strange purple animal with these teeth... reminds me of those shows nightmare before Christmas that I would never watch, because I hate the way the characters look. But besides my personal preference on how it looks, it does appear it would be helpful for promoting articles and blogs.

You get paid 50% of pay per click ad sense from google. Some people have reported making $100 in just two weeks of joining. Now , the site itself only has a page rank of 4 . I have yet to see any of the articles really showing up in search engines. But than again I haven't really been looking either.

So its worth a shot. Lets see how it goes. Starting Xomba experiment now.
